Lakota East senior standout Emily Lafferty has concluded her athletic career at East, but not before garnering significant honors and recognitions for her accomplishments. Lafferty was recently named OHSAA 1st Team All-State following an outstanding senior season. As catcher for the 22-8, District Champion Thunderhawks, Lafferty posted a .406 batting average, with a league leading 6 homeruns and 24 RBI. She is the recipient of the league’s highest honor as the 2009 GMC Player of the Year.
This marks the second time Lafferty has received 1st Team All-State recognition as she was also selected in 2008. “Emily is without a doubt the best all-around catcher I have ever coached,” said East head softball coach Steve Castner. Lafferty has not only been a tremendous all around athlete at East but also an outstanding leader on the school’s Student Athlete Leadership Team.
Emily will attend George Mason University next fall on a softball scholarship. She hopes to major in Biology. CONGRATULATIONS EMILY!
