It’s official! The six female finalists have been announced for the LaRosa’s “High School MVP of the Year” award.
The six female athletes in the running for this year’s award include: Liz Burchenal (St. Ursula), Kaela Jo Freppon (NewCath), Kendall Hackney (Mt. Notre Dame), Dayeesha Hollins (Winton Woods), Brooklyne Ridder (Oak Hills), and Cat Humphries (McNicholas). All of the finalists were nominated for the award by area high schools, fans, and coaches.
This year’s winner will be announced at the annual Buddy LaRosa’s Sports Hall of Fame Banquet on June 28th.
Here is a look at the 2009 female finalists:
Liz Burchenal (Junior / St. Ursula) - Soccer All-American, Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year.
Kaela Jo Freppon (Senior / NewCath) - All-American volleyball player, 5-time KY state track champion
Kendall Hackney (Senior / Mt. Notre Dame) - Basketball All-American nominee, Miss Ohio Basketball
Dayeesha Hollins (Senior / Winton Woods) - Basketball All-American nominee, 1st team all-state
Brooklyne Ridder (Senior / Oak Hills) - State champ in cross country and track
Cat Humphries (Senior / McNicholas) - Two-time Ohio state track champion, played soccer and wrestled
