report notes | more reports

Former Loveland Tiger, Danny Rosenbaum, will get a crack at the big leagues if he so chooses.  On Wednesday, June 10th, the left-handed pitcher was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 22nd round of the 2009 MLB Draft.

This past season, Rosenbaum went 5-5 for the Xavier Musketeers with an ERA of 5.28.  He also led the team in games started (15), innings pitched (88.2), and strikeouts (77).

While at Loveland, Rosenbaum was a three-time all-FAVC selection, including being named FAVC Player of the Year during his senior season.  Buckeye Scout also ranked him the 17th best prospect in Ohio for the class of 2006.

As with any pick in the first-year draft, Rosenbaum will have the opportunity to turn down the Nationals and return to Xavier for his senior season.

Update:  Rosenbaum will forgo his senior season at Xavier.  The junior pitcher has officially signed with the Washington Nationals after being selected as the 652nd pick in the draft.  Rosenbaum will be assigned to the G.C.L. Nationals, the team's rookie affiliate in Viera, Florida.
