Former Sycamore Aviator, Joey O’Gara, will get a crack at the big leagues.  The right-handed pitcher was selected in the 31st round of the 2009 MLB Draft by the Florida Marlins.

O’Gara is currently pitching for Indiana University.  In 2009, he appeared in 19 games, making five starts.  He finished the season with a 3-3 record, with an earned run average of 5.83.

While at Sycamore, O’Gara earned two varsity letters for baseball.  He earned the GMC Comeback Player of the Year for his efforts during his senior season.  O’Gara had been limited to only 3.1 innings his junior year before an injury cut his season short.

O’Gara will have the option of signing with Marlins, or returning to Indiana, since he is only a redshirt sophomore.
